my 100th post, 1930's style!

according to my opening page I want to officially welcome all of you to my 100th post.

although I should probably be original and post something truly unique, I feel that this link must be shared. originally posted on Pine and Lord, this video shows how 1930 designers thought we would be dressing in 2000. some of the predictions are band on (decline of skirts, waist-defining belts worn over the pencil skirt suit) while others just make me laugh (head lamps!).

to me, the scariest part of the predictions is the men's style. "men will carry phones" (ahem, cell phones) "radios" (ahem, iPods) and "be done with ties and suits" (ahem, the workplace casual movement).

ooo, swish. ;)

fashion week... take one

no, I haven't forgotten that the most important week of fashion is currently moving ahead in New York. instead of focusing on individual collections, this post is dedicated to what hollywood wears to watch the shows. it's nice to see (now that the economy is on the up turn and designers can afford to provide perks again) that celebrities have started to support designers.

hot cup of *

it was only this morning on a delightfully warm snowy day, sitting in the local breakfast nook with a long missed friend, that I was reminded of the importance of a hot cup of *.

(as a bit of an FYI, * is a computer short hand meaning "anything". computer scientists use it when searching such as, template* to find any file starting with template. a little unusual for a style blog, but I thought it was especially fitting. in this context it means hot cups of anything, cider, tea, coffee, lattes, or water.)

nothing in the whole world compares to grasping warm morning goodness with two hands in your favourite mug.

imagine my reaction to the serendipitous event of being introduced to Sandra Juto on the same day. her photographic style is refreshing and I can't get enough of the hot cups of * she features. expect to see more of her photographs featured here.

special thanks to Pine and Lord for bringing her talent to my attention. welcome back to the blogosphere my friend. ;)

sandbox

despite Winnipeg's cold and homey demeanor, the city actually packs a pretty powerful cultural punch. Sandbox, a new Winnipeg fashion magazine is a great example. formed in 2009, I am loving the photographic style.

sweet and innocent or daring and smoking, dresses are incredibly versatile.

Spring is almost here.... right?

it should be noted that one of my new year's resolutions is to start blogging more. now if only people.com's resolution would be stop posting ugly pictures.

putting aside my clear pessimism with celebrities, I have been inspired by modcloth.com (see previous blog). all these cuties remind me of spring. I can't wait to stop wearing socks.

enjoy!
