little michelle tanner update
while the twins travel to Tokyo to wear the above (insert own comments here), a friend and i took a gander at the elizabeth and james line. although a few key pieces jumped out, the line is generally a little too edgy for me. although that is not saying much. check out a few of their pieces for sale at Norstrom's.

i'm on chic street
on my many wanderings through life i came across this blog-of-sorts. the photos posted are by kelly stuart. when i grow up and live in NYC this is exactly what i am going to dress like... for the interested reader, i will also be filthy rich, 120 lbs, and have long, flowing wavy light brown hair.
The link to the blog is here... and there are months of street chics to catch up on. :) happy perusing Elle Street Chic Blog

New York Fashion Week
i have decided to live my dream of being in NY for fashion week vicariously through the Harper's Bazaar recap. some of the featured lines fail to capture my imagination (i.e. Ralph Lauren's attempt to use tan coloured equestrian clothing from the 80s in his new Fall 09) but others are full of hope and promise for the upcoming season.
Narciso Rodriguez is right on par with the black + white + pop of colour approach to fall. this rhetoric was echoed through many of the other lines. what is interesting about this ensemble is the shape and contrast of the outfit. the textured tank top with solid coloured pencil skirt and coloured tights is sure to be a hit in all offices this fall season. very wearable, very trendy.
Jason Wu manages to create a modern feminine gladiator look in his fall line without the misuse of the suit as seen in many other collections. the serene colour palate is out of place compared to the harsh colours of his contemporaries, but is nevertheless fully appreciated as a classic transition piece sure to be a closet staple through 2010.
everything about this Thakoon ensemble perfectly represents strength. the colour begs for attention, the cut has the pleasure of both being modern and edgy as well as classic, the opaque tights and two-toned heavy shoes give a sense of anchor to an otherwise flowy dress, and finally the use of cuffs as an accessory on both arms gives balance. thanksgiving cocktails anyone?
although metallics may have seen their peak of fame in recent years, the pairing of the Proenza Schouler frock with black tights and strong neck line gives hope to the future of the metal trend. note: Proenza Schouler has a small place in my heart for her strong preference and use of turtle necks in many of her other pieces. a trend i hope to see more of.
finally, last but not least, the most current collection i have found to date. Marc by Marc Jacobs is able to mix the prints, tights, layers, and textures of fall trends into an awesomely styled ensemble with the "straight to street" wearability sought by many avid shoppers. the large slouchy bag and statement belt add the necessary details to complete this outfit. although many wise stylistas warn against combining too many of the fall's trends into one outfit, by keeping the colour palette warm and consistent, Marc was able to combine the trends effortlessly.
just for fun...

Valentine's Day
no, i am not referencing the hallmark driven sappy love dove day in february that i secretly look forward too despite it's material nature, i am referring to the movie Valentine's day which after seeing these "on set" pics i couldn't be more psyched to see. something about a woman in a classy ensemble motivates me. i am reserving my opinion on the movie until a preview though.
